Training starts back this Wednesday 6th January.

The knockdown tournament is on 17th October, tickets are £15 each.

There will be no training on Sunday 30th August.
 
June
 
The grading will be on Monday 22nd June 2009 at 6.30pm at Abercynon leisure centre. This is for Novice to 6th Kyu.

29th June 2009 at 6.30pm, for 5th and above.

 
Training prices are now £2.50 per session from Wednesday 10th June.
 
March
 
Training times have changed to:

Sundays       - 4:30 for Novices & 5-6:30 for all other grades

Wednesdays - 6:30 for Novices & 7-8:30 for all other grades

 
February
 
There is a Welsh squad training session planned for Wednesday 4th February in Abercynon Sports Centre 8-9:30pm. This is a clicker session for seniors, for either Males or Females.
 
January
 
Fees need to be paid this Sunday 25th - £28 for seniors and £16 for juniors.
 
There is a Kata training session run by Emma Moulden (Welsh Kata Coach), this Sunday 25th January from 11am -2pm at Michael Sobell Sports Centre Aberdare.
 
Training on Sunday 18th January will be in Bryncethin @ 6:30-8, not in Coychurch @ 5:30 as normal - this is only a one-off.
 
Due to the restructuring of the licence fees, all fees are now due - £28 for seniors and £16 for juniors.

Training is cancelled due to holidays for most of October.

The last training session is on Sunday the 28th September at Coychurch, and we start back training on Wednesday the 29th October at Bryncethin.

There is Senior men & women clicker squad training at Coychurch memorial hall on Sunday March 9th, from 5:30 to 7:00pm.

Shihan Alan Davies will instruct the men & Sensei Chris Davies will instruct the women.

Any students over 15 years old can attend.

Please can all seniors attend this session.

 

There will be Welsh Junior squad training with Shihan Dave Lund Regan, at the Bryncethin memorial hall on Wednesday 16th January from 7pm to 9pm. 

Please bring pads/mitts if you have them.  All colour belt juniors from red belt and above should attend, and also all graded cadets should attend (16 years old).

I have added an interactive web forum here, and on the main navigation bar above.  The old guestbook is available here, or from a link on the contact us page.

Please use the forum, it could be helpful/informative and fun as long as people use it!

You need to register, where you pick a name & password and enter your email address.

You are then ready to fully use the forum, you do not have to mess about validating email accounts etc.

Once you have signed up, if you click on the 'My Controls' link near the top, you can change your avatar (piccy by your name), add a signature etc.  There are a number of avatars you can choose from as well as being able to upload your own image.

I am still customising it, all I have done so far really is to change the logo from Invision to the two small BKK logos.

Get registered and get posting!!

The sponsored training session on Sunday 11th February will be held at Pencoed College Sports Hall at 3pm.

November
 
The club will be doing a sponsored training session on Sunday 11th February, in aid of Macmillan cancer support.  Time & venue to be confirmed.

We will be completing 2000 exercises in approximately 2 hours, 500 each of:

  • press-ups
  • block & strikes
  • sit-ups
  • kicks

Also, the grading has now been confirmed as being on 10th December.

 
October
 
We will be going to The National Knockdown Tournament in Crystal Palace, which is this Saturday 7th October. 

Pick up times:

Sempai Adrian 05:30, Sempai Richard 05:40, Alyson 05:45 and then everyone else at the Red Dragon 05:50.

The sponsored swim was very successful, the club have raised £306 for charity.  Well done to everyone who took part, as we managed 159 lengths in the hour. 
 
On 7th May, there will be a sponsored swim in aid of charity via the Lions Club.  We will be swimming as many lengths as possible in an hour.  The swim is in Pencoed swimming pool, and we are swimming between 12-1 pm.  Sponsor forms are available from Sempai Peter.

We are starting to put together the history of the Bridgend Kyokushinkai Karate club, which was started way back in the early 1970's. A good part of this history is being passed on from Sempai Peters' old instructor Sempai Dai Llewellyn, a good friend of Peters also.
 
There is an instructors course on February 5th, but there will be training as normal.
